Sedentary lifestyle might worsen menopausal symptoms

adies, you may want to ditch a sedentary lifestyle if you want to live your middle age healthily as a new study has linked inactivity with hot flashes and more at midlife. Sedentary middle-aged Hispanic women in Latin America have significantly worsemenopause symptoms than their active counterparts, shows the study of more than 6,000 women across Latin America. The analysis also linked sedentary lifestyle with depression, anxiety, insomnia andobesity. The study analyzed data from the Collaborative Group for Research of the Climacteric in Latin America surveys and health records of 6,079 women, ages 40 to 59, who attended one of 20 urban health centers in 11 Latin American countries.)
A sedentary lifestyle was very common, reported by 64 percent of the women. And the following statistically significant contrasts between the sedentary women and active women stood out: Some 16 percent of the sedentary women had severe menopause symptoms compared with 11 percent of the active women. The sedentary women also had higher total menopause scores, and more of them had any of the individual symptoms than the active women did. The sedentary women were also more likely to be obese and to have higher scores on the depression, anxiety, and insomnia scales

Samsung Looks to Join the Satellite Internet Space Race

SAMSUNG IS THE latest company eyeing satellites as the best way to expand the reach of the internet to the billions of people without access. In a paper published this week, Farooq Khan, head of Samsung Research America, outlines an idea for using thousands of small low earth orbit (LEO) satellites to provide high-speed internet all over the planet.
Traditional satellite internet providers use geostationary satellites positioned much further from the earth’s surface to provide access. The problem is that these services tend to be slow, expensive and have high latency. By using a large number of smaller and cheaper satellites floating closer to the planet, Khan and company hope to speed connections up significantly while also cutting costs
.
So far it’s just a research paper, but Samsung is far from alone in exploring this idea. A company called OneWeb has received funding from , as well as backing from Virgin Galactic founder Richard Branson. Entrepreneur Elon Musk’s Space X is working on a similar scheme as well, complete with backing from Google.
Some analysts are skeptical that delivering internet by satellite can be profitable without requiring monthly fees that few in the developing world will be able to afford. Wireless spectrum availability is another ongoing issue for new satellite providers.
But Khan’s paper proposes that a new technology that uses the extremely high-frequencies known as the millimeter wave spectrum could overcome some of these limitations and reduce the cost. Telecommunications companies, including Samsung, are already considering millimeter wave technologies as the basis for 5G, the replacement for the modern 4G wireless standard. Khan writes that a 5G-based standard could simplify internet-by-satellite and reduce its cost.

Stoke's Xherdan Shaqiri must serve one-game ban against Tottenham

A suspension will prevent new Stoke signing Xherdan Shaqiri from making his Premier League debut against Tottenham on Saturday.
Potters boss Mark Hughes was set to include the winger, but it emerged on Friday evening Shaqiri must serve a one-match suspension, picked up during his time at Inter Milan.
The suspension stems from a yellow card Shaqiri earned while playing for Inter in the Coppa Italia in February.
The news came on Friday as Stoke received international clearance for Shaqiri to join the club.
